So it finally happened! Waiting what feels like a year for my Apple Watch Series 6 battery to FINALLY hit 80% (Did not move from 82 % to 80% for MONTHS), I was wondering if I can finally use AppleCare+ to get the battery replaced or does it actually have to hit 79% first? One software update actually made it go from 82% to 84% again! Such a joke

iirc you don’t even Need for it to hit 80% to contact Apple. Of course they would say “above 80% so you are fine”, but if your device battery drains pretty fast, they will have to replace it. That’s what’s happening to my Apple Watch Series 4.

It is less than. That is what it says on Apple's website.

It is a joke, the percentage is just an estimation that can go up and down momentarily anytime and isn't exactly accurate.

The guy in the support chat had no idea and just lied to me and wanted to charge me 65 EUR for a battery replacement. I was like "but I have AppleCare PLUS!" and he was like "that does not count for battery replacement. Only in the first year while you still have warranty" and I am like "huh?! that makes no sense whatsoever, that is why I got AppleCare+ in the first place" and then he just wishes me a nice week and closed the chat!

They were wrong, but it doesn’t really matter since you’re still at 80%. “less than eighty percent (80%)” per the T&C

Once you’re down to 79%, if you get that kind of response ask to be escalated to a Senior Advisor (which means a phone call).

This is exactly why I choose to visit Apple Store in person when possible. Remote check has so many things they can’t see compared to in person. My Apple Watch Series 4 got replaced despite seemingly 86% battery health, and tech support saw how it dropped quickly while support filing forms.

The Wife's SSG S5 just went from 81%->78 % and I initiated a chat with Apple.

They ran the diagnostics and I agreed to an express replacement rather than me send it and they snd one back.

Should be coming in the net few days, all free, except the £649 hold on my CC.

My battery was at 80% in December, waited long for it to go under but never did and a software update raised the parameter to 82%. It drains pretty fast, I am around 18 hours with some activity.

Replacement watch here today...23 hours after the chat. Quite impressed with that. Looks like a 'new' SS Gold S5, wife very happy with it! I have AC+
