battery replacement help!~!!

after installing my new iphone 2g battery, the screen is stuck on hte red battery recharge screen, it will stay on only if it is plugged into the wall. what can be wrong with it the phone was working fine with the old battery!

We'll need a little more info.

1) Where did you get the new battery?
a) Is it OEM?
- If not what brand is it?
2) Who replaced it?
a) Are they Apple Certified?

i purchased the battery from ebay, i installed hte battery myself i done it before with sucess, now i solder the wires and now it will only turn on with the charger plugged in, but wont go to the main menu. im pretty stumpped i didnt do anything different.

pretty much the phone is not holding a charge

is the battery a oem battery purchased off of ebay or a knock off?? chances are if it's a knock off it's not made to hold a charge...
