My original 2g battery is getting a bit long in the tooth. I didn't use it much yesterday and it was still half gone by today. I'm thinking maybe it's time to replace the battery. Anyone use one of those 3rd party replacement places and were they any good? Would Apple even replace my battery since it's been crackerjacked? While it seems doable, I think I'd just rather pay someone to do it. Thanks for any help.

Here's the official Apple replacement:

However, I had a friend get his iPhone 2G battery replaced by using the following company and it was a lot cheaper and he got what he expected:

I'm not sure as to other companies, but you could always grab a battery on eBay and install it yourself, there are plenty of guides out there.

Did they just raise the price?
I swear last time I checked that out, it was $69 and $6.95 for shipping, totalling $75.95.

If not, my bad.

You know I do remember it being less then the $79 it is currently, $69 or so sounds about right. Not sure when they changed it though.

I replaced my own battery in the 2g it is fairly hard but doable just buy a bunch of those iPod opening tools and a splundger plus the battery is about $8 on eBay
