Hi. I got two iPhones that will need their batteries replaced in about one year or so. A 13PM and a 14, both at 89% battery health currently.
Does anyone know if the new batteries will still be rated for 500 cycles before reaching 80% health, or is Apple bringing the new battery tech with 1000 cycles from 15/16 series to batteries of older generations aswell ? Thank you.

Since a lot of the tech is in the BMS and not only the battery I would guess no. And I don't think Apple would wanna introduce new tech into an old phone that hasn't been tested for that particular model.

Introducing a new battery type into a model would prob make it harder to update devices since they have to take a new battery type into consideration.

Well if there's anyone that could do that magic, it's probably Apple. The 13PM already had it's battery replaced one time last November, at 82%. It would be so nice if I had to stop worrying about battery health.

You will get the same type of battery that came with the phone. Apple won't be using new tech in old phones that for sure. The old battery lasts at least 2 years, they expect you to replace it or buy a new device which has the newer batteries in them. By the way, the batteries haven't been out long enough to know if they'll last any longer than the previous type
