I have heard that jailbreaking/unlocking makes your battery worse. Is that a myth?

My battery life has not been that great on my iPhone 4, maybe its just me...
All my friends have iPhone 4's and use it as often as me and all have better battery life.

iPhone 4
4.1 Jailbroken and Unlocked
Baseband: 1.59.00 (tinyumbrella)

AT&T prepaid, No data unlimited talk and text

Here are my apps in Cydia:
Activator
aDownloader
AndroidLock XT
AppSync for OS 4.1
APT 0.7 HTTPS Method
BigBoss's Source
BiteSMS
Cydia Community Sources
Cydia Installer
Dev-Team
Enhanced CTorrent
Erica Utilities
Folder enhancer
Hackulous Security
Icon renamer
Installous 4
libsiplaystack
ModMyi.com
MxTube
Passcode Lock Preventer
PhotoAlbums+
Safari Download plug-in
Saurik's source
ShakeToUndo Killer
source GUI
Ultrasn0w
ZodTTD's Source

I know there are a lot, but if there are any you think I don't need or could be hurting the battery, please recommend.

Also is there an app in Cydia or the app store that tracks App's by battery usage?

I have heard of BatteryDetective in Cydia, but havent gotten a chance to test it out.
Thanks

What is your version of bad and good?

The average that I seem to be getting is 5-7hrs from full to completely empty (varies from day-to-day and the app I use each day).

I have an iPhone 4 on iOS 4.2.1 and it is not Jailbroken. Some apps and task like Recording HD video, constant 3G browsing, playing graphic intense games will all cause the battery to decrease faster throughout the day, but this will very per person.

I heard from a genius in an Apple Store that jailbreaking the iphone allows unauthorized apt's to run in iphone background and in this way harm your battery.

I'm so on the fence about jailbreaking. On one hand, unlocking my hardware to run anything I want is kind of nice. On the other hand, having Apple's code signing active adds another layer of security to keep things like this from happening.

I guess you can't have it both ways. This is why I use a tethered jailbreak, and only boot jailbroken when I want to mess around. The rest of the time I just run "stock".

Yeah, I charge every night but rarely go below 30% for the day (email, iPod, surfing, games).
