Im still using the Snow Leopard on my MBW 2010, planning to upgrade to Mavericks. But Im really didnt want to "lose" my endless battery life, its just impressive how much it lasts. My battery has 843 cycles, 63% health and it holds like 5 hours normal tasking.

For the users who got the beta Mavericks, do you think it can be comparable with Snow Leopard?

One thing to keep in mind is that each new OS is designed to take advantages of the latest technologies in the latest computers. It's not quite as cut and dry as you might think. Snow Leopard was designed to take advantage of the technologies of your current Macbook but your Macbook is nearly 4 years old so upgrading to Mavericks YMMV.

Those figures are unusual, to say the least. I would expect a battery with those cycles and health rating to last considerably less. Depends what you do with it, I suppose.

The general reaction, as evidenced in posts here, is that battery life is significantly increased on 10.9.

Increased comparing with 10.8 and 10.7, no comparison have been made with 10.6, which were better in terms of battery life than 10.7 and 10.8

Thanks everybody for the responses. :) Anyway I bought another battery. Really want upgrade it, the compatibility issues with new apps botters me.

Well, if accurate comparisons between 10.6 and the two subsequent releases have been done, and also between the two Lions and Mavericks, then a quick bit of maths should provide a comparison between Mavericks and 10.6.

Here's some food for thought:

I don't know if you're using CoolBook (which I loved on Snow Leopard), but it DOESN'T work on 10.7+ so you'll lose battery life from not having that available (if you do use it currently).

I'm running Mavericks on a 2009 15" 3.06GHz C2D MBP that had SL on it. I get at least 20-25% better battery life with Mavericks than I did with SL. Amazing for beta software.

Dunno, I'm here on a 2,66 C2D 13" MBP and my battery (59% of spec'ed capacity) gets me past 4 hours without too much trouble.

RGDS,

No, it lasts ~5 without this or any other software.
