I just downloaded the 700kb update apparently addressing some battery issues.

What exactly does this update fix/improve?

Battery Update 1.2 updates battery firmware and improves battery functionality.

That's all I really got from that site. The rest is just explaining how to check if you updated successfully.

What does it mean by functionaility though? As in, does the battery last longer, charge faster or all of the above?

Coconut battery seems to be the same before and after the update.
