Battery status on the iPhone

Hi all,

My fiance was facing a problem with her iPhone recently related to her battery status.

She charges the iPhone but the battery status is always red. There is power in the battery and she can use it but its uncertain if the device would be on low battery or not since the battery status is always red.

What would be the problem? and how can we solve it? Do we have calibration for the iPhone just like in MacBook Pro?
