Hi peeps,

I'm wondering what the hell suddenly happened to my Apple Watch Series 6.

Until now, I had to recharge the Watch twice a week, sometimes maybe even only once a week (to be noted that I have Wifi and Bluetooth turned off all the time to save battery, I only turn them on once or twice a day to sync the Watch. Plus, I also have a lot of other things set in a way to save battery life).

Now, after the latest Update I believe, I have to recharge the Watch every day.

Apple, if this was you, you're seriously a joke. If this is one of those "criminal" tactics to make us buy a new Apple Watch, then sorry Apple, but it just won't happen.

Does anyone else have this issue? This can't be normal. It's making me really furious now because we shouldn't even have to spend time with issues like these.

Last time I did this, it became a mess. Suddenly my watch was recognised as two different watches in Health for example - when it was first paired and the second time after it was re-paired. I couldn't fix that until today and there's no way to solve it.

If Apple could get things right for once, that would be great. But I think they don't want that. They want to sell products. That's almost criminal. It's in the same tradition as making older iPhones slower to people buy new ones.

I don’t have an answer for you except to repair like already discussed. But I have a question.
How in the world you get one week of battery life? Could you please post your battery optimization tips?

hear me out

you could spend the 20 minutes a day (literally while you shower or something) to charge your watch and enjoy a normal Apple Watch experience?

why do you need it to last a week?

One week is rare, it's rather twice a week that I'm charging it. Basically I have linked Bluetooth and Wifi to Flight Mode, so I have flight mode on all the time and by turning it off I would automatically turn on Bluetooth and Wifi. I would do this once or twice per day, it takes maybe 5-10 seconds to sync all the data.

I think this makes up most of the battery saving.

The other stuff are things like not having it activate when I raise my arm, lowest brightness mode, I also don't get any calls or notifications, etc. on it. I don't use messages on it or music. I really only use it for exercices, to count how much calories I've burnt, how I've slept, etc., all these kinds of things basically, but I do ocassional also use it as a calculator or as a timer, and also to record audio.

What is wrong with taking 1 hour a day to charge your watch?

Time. I don't have that much time. And I'm constantly moving somewhere. I don't want to think of it. If I can recharge it twice a week, why the hell would I recharge it every day? You guys are funny. You are washing your cars once a week? Why don't you wash it every hour? Or something like that …

Because I don't have time. And I don't want to have gaps in the data either. Some people buy an Apple Watch and the Watch becomes their hobby. Then there's people like me who only want to use it as a tool and want the tool to work in the background. I'm the main character in my life, not the Watch.

If I could only charge it once or twice a week, it would be irrational to have to charge it every day.

And by the way, I used the Watch normally until now, just the way I would do it anyway. I also don't want to "enjoy" the Watch, lol. I'm not having sex with the Watch bro.

so do you also turn off cellular on your phone and only catch up on texts and calls once a week?

also you can literally charge it while you sleep. taking the watch off and charging it before you knock out takes 3 seconds.

Many things are wrong.
By having 1-day battery life you are wasting the life of the battery. You only have 300-500 cycles till battery deteriorates. That’s 1-2 years in theory. Compare that to Garmin Epix 2 with AMOLED screen that can go 6-16 days on a charge and now you just have a battery that you don’t have to replace for 10 years or more.
On a long overnight hike or long haul flight you might not have a charger.
GPS can track you for only 7 hours compared to 30-40 hours of Garmin.
It’s kind of like saying “I drive to work 50 miles per day so I should have a car that has a range of 50 miles only since I charge it every night”.
There are many other examples.
I dare anyone to find a smart watch that lasts less on a charge than Apple Watch. Even crappy Galaxy watches last a little bit longer while having same sensors and functions.

Sounds like you gonna have to upgrade to a Apple Watch Series 8

Yes actually, I turn my phone on only a few times a day. Cellular works with electromagnetic waves (microwaves to be precise), I don't need these here all the time, so surely not a bad idea to turn it off. Plus, it saves my battery, and people don't get on my nerves.

But honestly, you're giving me bad advice. Just like charging it over night. I want to track my sleep bro, I know what I'm doing, and I want it to count my burnt calories. If there's 8 hours missing in there, it changes quite something in my stats.

And these advices are so typical for this community. You want a soup, but no, someone will come and try to persuade you 10x why a Donut is better. Dude, I know why I want the soup right now, and not the Donut, and if I want the Donut, it would be no problem for me to get it.

Yeah I guess that's what they want. I would if it had new features like Blood Sugar, Blood Pressure, etc. But these updates that make the battery drain quicker on purpose are these typical half-criminal tactics from big companies that want to sell more products.

Ha, I have to recharge my launch S6 mid-day or else it will die by like 7pm. I just randomly checked my battery health over the weekend and it was at 79%, and it told me to get it serviced. Sigh.

And another conspiracy theory. It really gets old. There are numerous valid reasons, why a battery shows reduced performance over time (calendaric aging due to cell chemistry, new features eating more CPU cycles or putting higher load on a calendarically aged battery, a simple programming bug etc. etc.).

But of course it’s more fun to accuse a big company of bad intentions, without needing any proof. And no - noticing a changed behaviour is NOT a proof of intention. It might not even be related to the latest update, but to changes in the neighborhood (i.e. more radio interference requiring higher radio power to „get through“ or more repeats due to increased packet loss). I think the correct term for that would be „coincidence“.

<tinfoil hat> But… but … the big bad company surely introduced the evil code earlier and put a timer on it, so it activates at a random time, just to hide their trails … </tinfoil hat>
