On my 2017 MBP 15” I usually get around 5 hours of real world use ( having office package running, streaming some music and having tons of Safari tabs open).
Almost never get more than 5 hours it is rather closer to 4 hours.

In the Apple store I tried the different laptops and then did the same experiment at Best Buy. I started a few applications, pulled out the power cord and looked at Activity Monitor to tell me what remaining battery life would be. On each occasion I would get close to 9 hours on Macbook and less than 5h on the MBP 15 with the MBP 13 around 6h.

I am curious to hear from owners of MBP and MacBooks if this is reflecting what you get in real life as well?

My MBP 13" 2017 drops 20% every 90 minutes at full screen brightness and browsing/Itunes/and Word. The math says that's about 7 1/2 hours. That seems about right to me. My 15" 2018 seems to drop a little more slowly than that, so maybe 8 hours.
