battery trouble/ fireware update?

First, when the magsafe isn't hooked up, the icon showing is the one that shows when the battery is completely charged and it says (Not Charging).

Second, my magsafe doesn't always light up with I hook it up to my Macbook, sometimes it works sometimes it doesn't.

Third, when the magsafe does hook-up it, takes forever to charge the battery. I'm talking 8 hours.

Fourth, the battery runs out super fast. Maybe about half an hour and its completely gone.

Any ideas about what is causing this? My only idea is that I download the iMac EFI Firmware Update 1.4. Does that cause trouble for anyone else?

You downloaded an iMac update for a Macbook? Or am I reading this wrong?

Try resetting the SMC, check on the Apple site to see how. SMC manages low-level functions like charging.

Look in About This Mac > More Info > Power

and then post the info about the battery here.....
