Just a general question, usually when i'm on my Macbook Pro i have the magsafe connector plugged in for power. Does this hurt my battery at all? I rarely use my Macbook Pro just on the battery power. Do i need to let my battery drain my time to time and recharge it?

Nope.
Just complete a charge cycle about once a month and it'll be fine. Note, you do not need to completely drain the battery and charge it back to 100%. You can just run it down to 50% and charge it to 100% two times.
