Earth. I think.
I have a relatively brand new battery in my macbook pro 3,1. It has a cycle count of 16, condition of "replace now", mA of 0, and mV of 9854.

How do I go about figuring out what's wrong?

You say relatively brand new battery. Was it an Apple Battery or some random brand?

If it's a random brand, try and get it replaced from them if it's an Apple replacement, take it back to the Apple Store.
