AppleTV has been missing from the list of BBC iPlayer 4K supported devices right from the beginning, with the general consensus being that this is due to the AppleTV not supporting the hybrid log-gamma format used by the BBC. I was just reading a review of the iPhone 12 by The Verge, and noticed the following: “But the iPhone 12 shoots video in a newer version of Dolby Vision called Profile 8.4 that’s built on a standard called HLG, or hybrid log-gamma. HLG works differently than PQ systems; it was developed by broadcasters like the BBC and NHK...”. I’m hoping this points to HLG support coming to the AppleTV 4K? Plus some more 4K content from the BBC would be nice 😂

Good luck with that, not sure the BBC will increase their 4K content before the corrupt organisation is defunded
There's plenty of negative stories about the BBC, but there are people out there with an agenda that want to see it destroyed for their own purposes. The BBC is not perfect and can do better, but I'd rather watch BBC content than the fiction that fox news outputs. Here's a recent article talking about the issue - https://www.theguardian.com/books/2020/oct/23/what-now-for-the-bbc.

At least Fox are a commercial entity. The BBC is paid for by the British public and that is the fundamental difference.

It is a corrupt and hugely wasteful organisation. They throw money away like it is going out of fashion, they are not accountable for the huge amounts of waste. They over pay their presenters and pay them through the BBC Studios so they can hide the obscene salaries behind a private organisation that is not subject to FOI.

Dont get me started on the licence fee charges for pensioners, when they can spend £100 million on increasing diversity within the organisation yet exceed their own quotas already. What about all their staff that are on furlough at the moment, receiving full pay at the expense of the licence fee payers, apparently 16,000 staff getting full pay to sit at home

The money they waste of travel, hotels and transport that is never used, all of this charged to the BBC at exorbitant prices and they don’t care because they are not answerable to anyone.

Then there is the whole Jimmy Saville thing, and god knows what else. They have a statue outside of the head office sculpted by Eric Gill who raped his own 2 underage daughters and their dog!!!!!!

They have a lot to answer for and they need to be defunded and made to stand as a commercial organisation. They are no longer impartial either and they are also allowing their presenters to have opinions and do nothing about that.

I’m done with them and the sooner they get shut down, the better

Forget the blah blah blah about the BBC - give us Yanks HLG! I hate that my cheaper FireTV stick can do HLG, but not Apple TV. It's madness...
