I've been using Mac OS X Lion since Developer Preview 2. I never had any major issues until upgrading to the GM (the GM is also 10.7.0) in June. Ever since upgrading to GM, and now 10.7.2 beta, I've been having an issue when logging in. I'm prompted to enter my name and password. While I type, or even before I begin typing, I get the dreaded beach ball. Sometimes it resolves itself and I'm able to successfully log in. Other times I must force a shutdown and retry. Should I try a clean install? Does anyone have any advice?

By the way, I'm using hibernation mode 0 (the old hibernation mode) which doesn't save RAM data to the hard drive when the Mac goes to sleep. By default, current Macs use hibernation mode 3 which saves RAM data to the hard drive when going to sleep. I'm not sure if this has any relevance to this issue.

EDIT: After scouring the Apple Support forums I found numerous threads regarding the issue I'm currently having. The login issue seems to be isolated to 2010 MacBook Pros with graphics switching. By disabling automatic graphics switching or by enabling automatic login this issue is prevented.
