Since upgrading my HD to a 1 To Samsung Spinpoint M8 1TB 2.5 inch SATA II 13" mid-2010 has been running excruciatingly slow.
I have found countless threads detailing a fix for this issue on the 2009 MBP by downgrading the EFI firmware to 1.6, but this does not work on my laptop.
Instructions and files can be found at https://www.dropbox.com/sh/tqmr4w8gl49e1w2/sKwwRRf1XH
I get a greyed 'stop sign' when trying to boot from the USB key on which I have copied the 'Aluminum_MacBook_Pro_recovery.dmg'. The thread has sugested this is because it only works on the 2009 version and can be found here:
https://forums.macrumors.com/threads/729883/.
(It is insanely long)
I have also found suggestions that changing the hard drive cable could solve the issue (http://www.daknetworks.com/blog/3-general/78-macbook-pro-slow-after-new-hard-drive) but again this was on MBP 2009.
Does anybody have suggestions? I have started a new thread as to focus on the MBP 2010.
Thanks!
