I took out an ssd and put the original 1TB hard drive back into my imac, and done restore from Time Machine backups.

Now everything is sluggish in SL. For example Firefox, iTunes and Finder takes 30s to 2mins to open. Scrolling and clicking results in beachball effect for 30s.

I've done Hardware Test and everything is fine, also Windows works fine in Bootcamp so there must be issues with Time Machine restore. I’ve also done different restores, but the results are always the same.

Is there anyway I can get normal performance back in OSX without a clean install?

Many thanks

Have you tried verifying and repairing disk permissions while booted off the OS X disk?

Thanks for the quick reply, I've done that plus ran some hard drive tests in Windows, and everything is fine.

Is there software that can backup all my application data without backup the system data?

Does the problem still exist if you create a new user account?

Thanks, the new account work fine with no lags at all. Now all I need to do is to figure out how to transfer my app data to the new account.

Does anybody have any ideas?
