Hey guys, simple questions, do the Beats by Dr Dre Solo HDs block enough sound to be viable on an airplane? I can't really afford the Studios.

To be perfectly honest, unless you are JUST listening to hip hop the Beats range are terrible! You could easily get another brand of headphones for cheaper that would sound much better and have more noise cancellation!

Yeah I would suggest some other brand, the Beats are far overrated and over priced. Maybe look at the Audio Technica ATH-M50's or Sennheiser HD 280 Pro. I've used all three, and found the build quality and sound quality to be far superior to the Beats, at a much more affordable price. Good luck!

I bought the Beats Studio Headphones from Amazon last week Wednesday and returned it Friday. The bass was overpowering and the Mids and Highs were muffed. I really tried to like them but I couldn't. I decided to get the Sennheiser HD 598 and it just blows Beats out of the water. These headphones are open so they let sound in/out so I can't recommend them to you. I recommend closed type headphones like Audio Technica ATH-M50 or Sennheiser HD-280 PRO mentioned by the other poster. ;)

Avoid Beats

A recent article in the NY Times reviewed roughly eight different noise cancelling headphones, ( search the ny times page) and the beats performed very poorly. Great marketing, lousy product apparently

Wow. I use $10 headphones from Target and they work perfectly fine on airplanes. I've never had difficulty hearing.
