Beats Flex Power Fn

Does beats flex turn off automatically when I attach the earbuds magnetically? Does it use significant battery if left attached but not power off?

Also, I am noticing the pairing is not happening automatically when powered on.

I am trying to help my mom use them and if there is a lot of hassle she will not use it properly as she is not a tech person.
