BeatsX "call answer" bug from off?

I love my BeatsX but here is the scenario I keep encountering. BeatsX are turned off and the phone begins to ring. I proceed to turn on the BeatsX to answer the call but I do not hear the "Power on" tone after pressing the power button. I press the power button again and I hear the "Power off" tone and the BeatsX turn off. I go to my phone and try turning on the BeatsX again and the phone tells me I need to unlock the phone in order to connect with the Beats. With every other headset I've owned, including the AirPods, when the phone is ringing, and I turn the headset on, they either connect to the call or at least I hear the ring tone through the headset and I can answer from the headset. What am I doing wrong?
