I know that there is talk that the camera lens on the iPhone is not sapphire…….but i think that it is…..but whatever it is, it is damn tough!

My son dropped his iPhone 11 PM on concrete sidewalk while using Otterbox Symmetry Case. The phone decided to jump out of the case and slid some distance on concrete. The rear glass is cracked. The steel ring around the lenses took a beating BUT the sapphire lens remains perfect.

So, we got him Defender case afterwards. :D

I believe that it is sapphire…but on Youtube, there is some discussion whether it really is or not. I think that it is a thin layer of sapphire on top of regular glass…kinda like Sapphlex on Seiko watches in the old days.

It’s not sapphire as per Jerry Riggs

Yeah, i read that the thin sapphire layer cracked with those picks??? So, it is not a scratch but microscopic cracks??

Anyway…concrete pavement vs. iPhone 11 lens…lens won. :)
