Hi all - I am looking for specific benchmark comparison between an older MacBook Pro and the newest 2020 model. I wanted to see and Apples to Apples comparison.

I have a 2018 MacBook Pro i7 2.7 Ghz, 16GB 2133 MHz ram and 1 TB hard drive

I want to specifically compare to the new machine I have purchased (not opened yet)

2020 MacBook Pro i5 2.5 Ghz 16GB 3733 MHz ram and 1 TB hard drive

Does the ram make a difference, is the hard drive faster and of course want to see all the regular benchmarks. I just can't find specific comparisons between these two models.

www.everymac.com has some great information, but the benchmarks are lacking for the newer model. Any other sites anyone could recommend? Thanks so much!

Thanks. But there are no 2020 MacBook Pro 13 benchmarks there. Appreciate the help Glenthompson

So looking at the benchmarks between the i7 8559u 2.7 GHz Quad Core and the new unit with the i5 1038NG7 2.0 GHz processor - they are almost benchmarking the same with the i7 having higher benchmarks most of the time.

So that said besides the new keyboard and faster RAM (both units have the same 16 GB Ram and 1 TB hard drives) what is the difference?

By the time I sell my old machine and pay for new Apple Care this upgrade will cost me about $1000+. Does not seem worth it.

I do not mind the current keyboard and I have Apple Care until 2/2022. Looks I might wait and return the other machine - I just can’t see what I am getting for the upgrade, other than the new keyboard and faster ram?

Return it or keep it? $1000 to upgrade.

I did some more research and the newer processor does have better benchmarks but only by a few percentage points. Nothing that I feel I would notice based on how I use a machine.
