consdering that Apple now owns and sells the beddit sleeping solution exclusively in their stores I am wondering if anyone uses this device (and app) with their iPhone?

This seems like the best solution at the moment for tracking the quality of sleep and am debating whether getting this or not and seeing what potential downfalls it may have. Also wondering how much of it is just marketing or if it really is all it’s said it states to be.

Surely someone here uses one nightly?

Something from https://www.macrumors.com/2018/12/07/apple-selling-new-beddit-sleep-monitor/ might be of some help.

hi

i have the older beddit device/app that was superseded by apple introducing its "own" (yes, i am aware that apple purchased beddit a along while ago) app about 2 or 3 weeks ago.

the new beddit device and app are pretty much the same, however, as much as i have been able to determine from the screen grabs on the new app.

here are my thoughts:

1 i purchased beddit about 4 months ago.
the only reason why i selected beddit versus other devices was because apple owned it. therefore i knew i could trust it.
havent been disappointed in that, either.

2 simple to set up. no hassle.

3 the three features (data points) that i really appreciate are:
- measuring of heart rate throughout the entire night
- measuring of respiratory rate throughout the entire night
- measuring of sleep cycles in the context of what it calls "deep" sleep and "light" sleep. (note: there is no mention of "REM" at all, which is reassuring since this device could never measure REM.)

i don't own an apple watch.
i measure heart rate only through this device and my withings scale every morning.
so really appreciate this.

the respiratory rate measuring capability seems to be really accurate.
meaning: after you establish yr average rate, if you are overly tired or have a cold or something, its picking that up.
and i have noticed that after a heavy extended period of exertion (like after mountain climbing all day (yes, I am a mountain climber...)) it picks up an elevated respiratory rate for a full day or two after that. its really cool to see this.

the sleep cycles are interesting but i don't use them (or even see a way to use them using this device) to wake me at an ideal point during the cycles. I'm not too interested in a feature like that that other sleep monitors seem to offer.

mechanical: long cord. so really fits any bedroom arrangement.

I appreciate the long reply.

What features are you missing out on if you did on an Apple Watch? I’m guessing BEDDIT would require you to wear your Apple Watch during the night with the BEDDIT App?

hi

I am really interested in getting the apple watch to measure heart rates during the day, especially during peak periods, and measuring the progress of how quickly it falls back to normal range. this would be a great indicator of heart health and total fitness.
nighttime beddit type devices can't measure away from the bed.

(due to my network carrier being an MVNO ( not one of the 3 major carriers here in Japan) I can't obtain a watch cellular contract - it's just not being made possible for MVNO users at this point in ANY country to be able to pair their iPhone contract with a watch yet.
so I would be limited to getting/using the watch as a WiFi model only, and that is not attractive to me.
so I'm not buying the watch at this point.
im saving about 900 USD a year right now with this MVNO contract, but still getting up to 24GB of monthly full speed 4G data, so it's hard to give up... The cost to switch to one of the main carriers is too much)

beddit does not pair with the apple watch.
apple's Health app does join the two streams of data into it's graphs.
