Been reading heaps about 1g Home Button failures, mine seems to be lower than the glass and it used to be exactly flush with it. Also it does seem to have the same tactile feel that it used to. It's like the spring is flattening out.

Anyone else havin' issues?

i dont think there is a spring in the home button, but mine is also not as flush as it was.

Mines fine. I don't use home button to power on, I use the power button to turn on and off and home to take me back to home. My home button still feels pretty good.

Had my 1G for about a year almost and he home button feels and looks the same as it did when I first got it, and I don't really go easy on the iPod.

Maybe the people having trouble with their iPod's home button should stop using a hammer to push the button!:D

Heaps?

Someone have any links to forums or articles on this subject? Not calling it bogus, just haven't seen much of anything on it.

I've got a 1G touch and the home button has been lower than the glass from new. My son's home button is also lower than the glass on his 1G touch.

On both touch the home button has never been flush with the glass.

And they are both working perfectly.

Google it and you'll see heaps of people have returned theirs for home button failure. I spoke to a genius and he said it's THE most common failure of the 1g hence the newly engineered design of the home button on the 2g

My home button quit on me within the 1st two months

I am up to my third replacement 1g iPod Touch (32gig).

My home button failed within two months after purchasing it. I have had a couple more replacements since for other issues relating to the screen e.g bright pixels on refurb replacements but have had no more issues yet relating to the home button again.

So glad now to have paid the money for an extended apple care.:D

my home button was never flush with the glass it's always had an indent and mine was bought brand new about a year ago and as with others I have had no issues

I never took the factory plastic off the front of my 8GB first gen, but have not noticed any issues. I've had mine since Late Feb 08
