Started with the IPhone 17 seemed great value and I got the air thinking I won’t need the 17 now sold it. Tried Pro in shop looked quite nice all be it lots of scratches but I’ve just ordered a Pro now. I don’t want stuck on a March cycle with the iPhone 17/18/19 range and I can’t convince myself the iPhone Air will do me. Anyway the iPhone air will become my spare phone now and I will use the Pro. And yes I did try them in shop but it doesn’t help my choice I had to fully use them. Lost a bit money on resell shame Apple gives so much choice anybody else have this issue?

LOL. You should also try 16Pro then. An in-between 17Air and 17Pro. Pro cameras + premium build.

You could have in 14 days given it back to apple without restocking fee.

Using an air as a spare phone? Seems another thing in wasting money

Why didn't you just return the unwanted device to Apple for a refund?
The OP should have done more research and made up his own mind about it.

Between an iPhone 16e or iPhone air.

 has lotta guidance including comparison of different iPhone models on their website. Watch YT reviews too.

I got the 16e. Great little phone.

Awesome battery… maybe better than the 17 and 17 air, but not 100% sure since so few reviews put it in their mix.

Feels super nice and light in the hand.

BUT. And there is always a but.

1) No MagSafe.

I didn’t think I’d care much about this but there’s so many instances where I wish I had it, or couldn’t use an accessory because of it.

Accessories in question: MagSafe battery packs, my Belkin night stand, Cooling fan, and Moft foldable stand for watching things hands free/taking video calls hands free.

2) No Dynamic Island

Another feature I didn’t think I’d miss.

Except when I book a car and can’t see the license plate or status while I’m surfing on my phone during the wait.

Makes me have to constantly keep checking the app to get updates or remind myself of the license plate to look for.

Live activity on the Home Screen works fine but obviously isn’t visible if I’m actively surfing or chatting.

Also, when listening to background music (or other audio apps) im not able to quickly jump into the music app or pause or rewind/skip what’s playing.

Didn’t realize how much I use this until I lost it.

3) Cameras

The 16e just has the one main camera and it doesn’t have sensor shift stabilization, only inferior software one.

I’m a casual picture taker but even I noticed a lot more out of focus and outright blurry shots, especially in low light conditions but surprisingly even under normal conditions too.

The 16 and 17 iPhones have proper sensor shift stabilization, and so they’ll take better photos in darker conditions and night mode.

Also, missing the 0.5x zoom. I didn’t use it too much but when I did I really enjoyed it, especially macro mode.

I realize the Air doesn’t have it either but if you’re going to skip the Air might as well gain at least one advantage back.

My recommendation is if you’re in between a 16e and an Air, change that choice to 16/17 and Air and skip the 16e.

I assume if the Air is an option then budget isn’t the problem. And even if one is the reasons was to save money, the full featured 16 or 17 will give you a cheaper option that’s not missing any key features, and even gives you an improved screen with 120hz.

Just was giving an example 😂 as a puzzle game to illustrate if you’d have to get an iPhone that has a single camera yet two price points, to lay it out for the proper decision making!

Ofc an iPhone 15, 16 or 17 Pro user would not picked the 16e or iPhone air. Albeit they have different materials, the pros are way better.

This part is easily fixed with a $10 MagSafe case. I do think Apple should’ve made MagSafe standard across the board but at least there’s a cheap and easy remedy.
