Hi

over the past 2 weeks, perhaps once or twice a day, my powerbook Ti 500 will 'beep' - seemingly from the right hand speaker, for perhaps 2 seconds at the longest - one prolonged tone.

Does anyone know what this might be? I'm getting worried!

Ti 500, 10.3, 768MB RAM, Airport installed, HDD up'd to 40GB.

HELP!!

Best,
Hamish

You know, I've just begun having beeps from my PB too.

Seems to be a website thing, I think it was on Weather.com. Not on every page, and not every browsing session.

Could that be it?

I get the same thing from my iBook, happens once out of the blue seemingly for no reason.

Doesn't seem to be tied to anything in particular.

If anyone knows what it means and why it's doing it i'd like to know also. So far i've found zero info about it on apples support site/forums.

i work with about 12 quicksliver powermacs, and from time to time they just beep for no reason. No harm so far.

Interesting to know - anyone else had problems?

I'm terrified it's some board or hdd error!
