Beginning iPhone development. xCode errors?

Unsure if this is the right place?

I am looking to developing iphone apps. I tried to do a simple helloworld/alert message code but always get this error:

This version of Interface Builder does not support documents of type "Interface Builder Cocoa Touch Document (XIB 3.x)" targeting "iPhone/iPod touch".

I am on OSX lion and have fully update xCode from mac app store.
