Ok so here's my line experience:
I wake up at 5:20 am get to the flagship store on Boylston street around 5:45 am, buy a red bull from walgreens and I grab myself a seat. Got in around 8:30 am to see another line to wait for a sale rep to personally help me purchase an iPhone (hi Michelle!)
I did my homework, made sure I wasn't a business customer and was upgrade eligible the day before so I was prepare I had all necessary IDs and forms of payment. Picked out a dock and a screen protector and my iPhone.
All of that took 5 mins.
Setting up the account took another 5 mins.
So she opens my box and lets me open it and handle the phone, and I'm ready to activate. By this time its like 9:30 when the activation troubles began starting. We wait till 9:45 and she tells me I can just take it home and finish it there. No biggie for me since I live just 10 mins away I thank my rep and I was a happy camper.
I get home around 10:30 tried activating the 1st time...uh-oh...no connection to the server...no biggie i think to myself I'll just command Q and try again.
I do this 5 times and by the 5th time I was ready to activate.
simple. and painless.
I feel bad though since everyone else along the mid and west coast had it worse with like 8+ hrs of wait time just to activate.
Being on the east coast has it's perks though
i for one am happy with my new phone and the shopping experience.
Was it slow? yes.
Could it have gone better? definitely.
BUT, did I let it get to me? No.
I think sometimes we have to put these things into perspective and not get so pent up and crazy about having to wait for a phone to activate.
Oh yeah, I think the biggest perk about the whole experience: Phil Schiller actually came to the store and hung out! AWESOME.
that dude next to him must be his son i think
