Gave my old been in a cupboard wireless charging pad to a colleague. she's plugged it in and put her iphone 8 on it in the office. every 5 mins or so it will switch on randomly without being touched, and will start typing random letters like its possessed.

It seems like a problem of static electricity. It might be helpful to clean your screen with alcohol or remove your screen protector.
