My girlfriend and I are Canadians studying in the US. My girlfriend's mom wants to get her an iPad mini with LTE for Christmas. I have an iPhone 5 on the Verizon shared plan, so it would be ideal to get her an iPad that works on that network. Could an iPad mini be purchased from Bell in Canada, and then used on Verizon's network since they are both CDMA?

Or should I purchase an iPad mini from Verizon then send it to Canada for Christmas?

Could be wrong but I'd buy the Verizon version in the states since that model appears to have better global support I'm general.

Unfortunately, I believe the Canadian carriers use the same LTE frequencies as AT&T, so a Verizon iPad wouldn't give you any LTE service when in Canada.
