Bell with line through it in messages

ok, this happened to my daughters iphone 4 first. she has a bell next to my sons name in her messages. she does not get any notification when he sends here a text but it is there. its not in the contacts. now I have it next to one of my customers names. she can call me and all is good. but if she sends me a text no sound or notification. but the text is there. I have gone through every setting I can think of and cant find it. and I have several hundred contacts and its only on this one.

Anybody ever figure this out?

I've started getting it with a couple of contacts, and they're not silenced at my end of their end.

I made somebody stand there and we tried everything. We're both getting every notice, but the bell and line is there next to the contact's name in the Messages App.

Yes, thank you so much, it was.

With biteSMS, if you hold down a conversation for a bit, it becomes muted regardless of the contact's or contacts' settings.

All you have to do to un-mute it is hold down the conversation for a bit.

Unfortunately, I never read anything about that feature and I must had inadvertently muted a conversation.
