I just posted some Core Image and 3D accelerated Game benchmark results for the Radeon HD 2600 XT running on both old and new Mac Pro against the GeForce 7300 GT and Radeon X1900 XT:
http://www.barefeats.com/harper2.html

Our GeForce 8800 GT is not due to arrive until March. We'll add those numbers at that time.

Wonder how the 8800 is performing? Its way better than the 1900xt

Yes, much better.
I took two charts to try to compare the two.
The first chart is that of Barefeats comparing the X1900 to the R2600 XT using Prey.
Note that the X1900 XT has a frame rate of 64 fps.
The R2600 XT cards have frame rates in the 30s.
Next is a chart from Tomshardware.
It too is using Prey but at different settings.
However note that like Barefeats, the X1900 XT has a frame rate of 64.2 fps.
The R2600 XT cards have frame rates of 32.5 and 30.6 which is again close to the frame rates in Barefeat's chart.
Note that the 8800 GT has a frame rate of 111.8 fps.
Unfortunately they used an overclocked 8800 GT.
But we know that the standard 8800 GT can beat the 8800 GTS 320MB frame rate of 102.5 fps.
The standard 8800 GT has an approximate frame rate of 111.0 fps as compared to the X1900 XT frame rate of 64.2 fps.

Any chances you would run more test with Motion?

I don't care about the gaming performance, I am just interested in how the Radeon HD 2600 XT performs with Final Cut Studio 2 and of course the Geforce 8800GT but time will tell.

Almost all the benchmarks I can find use games for testing.
We'll get some good tests when the Mac Pro with the 8800GT comes out.

I know you've seen the following graph but I'll include it just in case.
It's 5:15p.m. your time, you should be on your way home.

Yeah, saw it. Unfortunately it hardly tells us anything about Motion performance in general though :(

If it means nothing then I might as well get the base model for now.
