Hello,

I haven't owned an Apple TV for 8 years, but just ordered the latest model.
I'm currently using a cheap Xiaomi Mi Box S https://www.mi.com/us/mi-box-s mainly for streaming and it works well at least for 4K TV.

What benefits can I expect using the Apple TV?

It's a TV streaming box, the benefit is you can watch stuff on the TV.
The apps will probably be a bit more refined, since they can share a lot of code in the background with iOS.
HDMI CEC is nice

if you add home automation, the aTV will act as a home hub, meaning it will allow you to access your devices from anywhere. And it adds the new Thread wireless spec, Think of it as wi-fi that's been optimized for home automation, but uses less power than bluetooth.

Isn't that the question that you should've asked BEFORE you ordered the new Apple TV? 🤔
Yes - the issue is we have 3 TV sets in two houses (in Denmark and in Greece), I'm considering which streaming unit to take to the Greek island house when going down there next week, it a non-smart TV .. 🇬🇷
