BenQ Monitor won't connect to Macbook

Hi

I have just brought a 19" BenQ Monitor. It came with a D-sub cable, but this does not fit into my macbook .

Do i need a separate cable to connect up my Macbook?

Which MacBook? You'll more than likely have to get a VGA adapter.

It is the Macbook white brought about 6 months ago. Where should i go for a VGA adaptor??

Is it the 'Mini Display Port to VGA Adapter' from the apple store that I require? I'm confused with all these adaptors!!
