On my macbook, I noticed that there is definite gap between the lid and the body of the notebook when closed. This is much more pronounced on the left side than on the right. I've tried to determine whether it's the body or the lid, but arrived at the conclusion that it's both - the body is bent downward and the lid upward. How can I get Apple to fix this? It seems to be a common problem and they are rather reluctant to fix it.

Has been a long standing issue with PB and MBP. I have a PB G4 1.33 and it has it also. For a laptop with that price tag, it should be perfect. But you learn to live with it ;) .

I think this issue might be a bit difference from the screen not being flush on the older MBP/PB models. The magnetic latch, what war supposed to fix these sorts of problems, apparently made matters worse

My old MBP was bent a little. my new Unibody MBP is just about perfect! :) I don't think the magnetic latch made things worse though.

anyone? I'd imagine Apple wouldn't just happily replace my laptop when I walk in. What sort of arguments would they be partial to?

I've got the same problem, my MBP has already bent in the corner. I have no idea how/when it happened, but it doesn't stay as closed as it should now...

I've not had such an alignment problem, my unibody MBP seems to be one of the "perfect" models. My prior MBP however had lid alignment problems and the latch failed to close once in a while because of that (I couldn't put it in sleep mode and then put it in a case - it would wake and then cook)

did you guys try to repair your notebooks? Was Apple helpful in this regard?
