Hello, I am a small business owner about to start creating two databases related to my business. Comparing software now and it has come down to either Filemaker or Bento. Bento seems to have the edge for my purposes, because of its ability to sync with Address Book and iCal. BUT, tell me this:

If I create a Bento library on my iMac in the office, then leave the office with my iPad, does the iPad app allow me to view and change the library I created back in the office? In other words, does the iPad app sync with the iMac app?

Appreciating your patient assistance...

Yes but you must sync with Bento/iMac before you leave the office. It's WiFi sync only and not dynamic updating and/or over the Internet sync. You can then make changes on the iPad but must re-sync when you get back to the office for the changes to show up on your iMac.
