FW Portable

Anyone care to share good/bad experiences using 2.5" USB 2.0/FW HDD's? I am in the market for one!
I like: Firelite, LaCie porche.
Suggestions?
Should I just buy the HDD and a enclosure?

Lacie drives are horrible, stay away.. far away.

I would suggest the 'clear' OWC Portable case "firewire to go" (either in FW400/USB2 or the FW800/USB2 version). Then buy a 5 year warranty Seagate drive.. the 80GB 5400 seems to be the best price point. You will be thankful for the reliability and compatibility (just make sure you get an Oxford chipset).

Good luck!

those firelites are indestructable...

shock mounted...magnesium case...ive dropped one out of a 2nd story window on a photoshoot and the thing keeps on tickin.

go with the firelites...they even have a FW800 version in 80GB (has a converter cable so can be plugged into fw400 if necessary
