OK, that's kinda impossible to answer;
Most of those brands other than Apple have multiple models from budget to premium.
We don't know what the purpose you have in mind is:
Watching movies (where you want a bright and vivid screen with fast refresh)?
Doing graphic arts (where you want a matte and accurate screen, NOT bright and vivid)?
What price range?

I use my computer for Graphic (Photography, Computer Graphics) and writing.
I also watch Movies on it and edit video (to a lesser amount).
Budget - I'm willing to buy the Apple 23" at refurb price. (So $850 Max here in Canada - don't worry about US/CAD conversion, it doesn't exist anymore.)
If you can get a good deal on a samsung 215tw, I'd highly recommend one. It's slightly smaller than what you're looking for, but a superb display at the right price.
The LG L245W is a great display. I own two and I love them. They have HDMI, but they come with an HDMI to DVI cable. It also has component and VGA.
The panel is MVA, which is on par with S-IPS in the 23". Some think it is an S-IPS as that is what LG says. Some still claim that while others don't. In reality the panels have the same specs and the same viewing angles that IPS is known for.
If you don't really care about the looks, you can get a much better and more flexible display.
Also, the LG comes with a 3yr warranty. You don't need to spend more to get AppleCare on it.
The HP's suck, we have them at work, the Dell have that really plastic outside which I don't like. The others I can't comment about, except the 23" ACD which I have and really love! So guess what I voted!
