Thoughts? Need to buy ASAP, USB2 will likely suffice, and I really like the Lacie Neil Poulton one...but advice is always great here.

My HDs

LaCie is good but you often pay the premium for design. This is cheap and has good reviews

I use this case

together with this HD
http://wdc.com/en/products/Products.asp?DriveID=733

I plan to buy the same case again together with this HD
http://wdc.com/en/products/products.asp?driveid=773

so that i have a cheaper drive for daily time machine backups.

The case has FireWire 800 and has very reliable electronic components. The aluminium-alloy of this case is based on duralumin, and has therefore a strength similar to a steelcase.

I lost a lot of data with/on LaCie drives, and cannot recommend them. The internet is full with reports about the low quality of their electronic components. They are sometimes cheaper than my own solutions, but it is not worth it.

Btw, i do not hear the WD Caviar Black in the above mentioned case, and the case is very cool (a bit more than room temperature).

I did research the best cases and HDs for several weeks, before i found the above mentioned combinations. Do your own extensive research, and you will find your ideal case/HD combo.
