best $300 camcorder for me?

I am looking for a moderately priced camcorder that will work easily with my late 2007 iMac with Quicktime and iMovie.
At age 67 I am neither gearhead nor geek by any means.

I've been reading about a number of cams that are not well suited to Mac and have yet to find something ideal.

Necessary:
External mic input
Easy editing on my iMac

I'm willing to pay up to $500 but I really like the $200-$300 range if I can find something there.

I got a sony HDR-CX110 on sale for $350 at Best Buy. All you have to do is plug in the usb from the camcorder to the computer and open imovie. Imovie imports all the videos and it is easy to edit from there.

I'd keep checking the weekly best buy ads to see when it goes back on sale if you're interested in this camcorder.

Edit: I have no idea if it has an External mic input so this one might not work for you. Sorry!
