Best 46" TV? [UK]

We're looking into getting a new TV for the living room, not sure exactly on the size but 46" seems like a good upgrade over the current 32". No idea what's good anymore on the TV market! Plasma or LCD, etc? Sony a good brand to go with?
Ideally looking to spend around £1k.

for a tv go into a shop like comet or a av store and see them for yourself, the quality of the picture often depends on the persons expectations.

Hmm, i have a 32" samsung at the moment, they are honestly great televisions.

seen these in store, fit your budget...just.

This is the 50" but there is a 40" aswell.
