Best 512GB SSD for MBP (as of right now)

I have not been keeping up with the aftermarket SSDs for a few months and was wondering what the absolutely best 512GB SSD would be for the mid-2012 MBP. I'm not concerned about minor differences in price because anything should be cheaper than the $900 Apple still wants to charge for theirs, and who knows what it is.

Appreciate any insight.

Samsung 830.

Crucial M4.

There's really not much in it but the Crucial M4 seems to be significantly less expensive than the 830. If you can find an 830 close to the price of an M4 I'd suggest that. Otherwise M4 is excellent.

Not to hijack the thread but is it the same situation for 256SSDs? I would like to buy one soon. The Samsung 830 definitely does present itself beautifully, but it's not as if one sees it often.

If cost is no concern whatsoever, the Samsung 830. If cost is even a little bit of a factor for you, the Crucial M4.

Thanks everyone!

I've kept a close eye on the Crucial's and I'm a long time customer of theirs but the Samsung is a lot newer if I'm not mistaken, right?

While the lower price is also nice both are far less than the $900 Apple wants for a 512GB SSD so it doesn't sting too much.

I don't think any of the 512GB SSDs are a value right now. I would either go with a 256 or 128, or wait til 512s drop in price. And they will, hide and watch.
