Hi All,

I am going to make another attempt at increasing my storage capacity for Adobe Creative Cloud projects (Photoshop and Premier Pro) and music. Music will be streamed to wireless network player--most likely BlueSound Node 2. I do my work on a MacBook Pro and Air. Solution must be wireless.

Here are my two choices:
  1. QNAP TS-453 Pro or TS-453A.
  2. 2014 Mac Mini Base model with OS X Server. Data storage to be provide by OWC ThunderBay Mini or Akito Thunder 2 Quad Mini. RAID 5 array to be maintained by SoftRAID 5 that will reside on the Mini.
Which is the better solution? Please include in your analysis safety of data (I recognize I will require an offsite back-up solution), data transfer speed (router will be an ASUS RT-AC68U), noise, and energy consumption.

What are your thoughts?

Cheers,

Donald Barar
