Best alternative to ScanSnap document scanner

My Fuji ScanSnap IX500 is 13 years old and I am looking at replacing it soon.

I absolutely love the hardware, but not so keen on the ScanSnap Home software.

Anyone got any experience of other equivalent scanners from Canon, Epson Brother etc....including the software.

Have you considered just replacing the software? I use vuescan (link) and it works great with every scanner I have - much better than the ScanSnap software I had used before.

I use the Brother ADS 2800W. It's fast and reliable.
