I've been using my rMBP in the dark lately, and I was wondering which Mac App is currently the best for dimming the screen below factory levels.
As of now, there are four applications that serve this function in the Mac App Store:
Brightness (display dimmer and tint control)
Dimmer Than Dim
Midnight
Work at Night

What's wrong with the dimming capabilities built in to the Mac already? The key with the smaller "sun" on it will dim the screen, the one with the larger "sun" will lighten it. keep pressing them and the screen will either lighten or darken. I don't get why you need a special app to do that.

BTW, there are also buttons on the keyboard that will increase or decrease or even completely mute the sound too.
