My mom is going to Mexico for 10 days and needs a way to stay intouch with people back here in the US. Whats the best app for free wifi calls?

Thanks

Another vote for Talkatone. Crap UI but the most stable/reliable voip app for me.

Viber and Vonage have worked great for me and my flight attendant girlfriend. Call from Hong Kong had great voice quality on both! Also enjoyed Tango for adding the video element. :)

i vote for Talkatone too... but you'll need a Google Voice number first.. it was pretty easy.

you can try a call bridge if it supports that country... there are free services available but not as easy to find.

Viber is Viber to Viber only I think, no?

I've tried a bunch and the best one by far for me is Pinger; free Wifi calling and free SMS.

Honarble mention goes to Sidecar.

Another one to throw into the mix is Footalk - free calls to other users over WiFi. I've made a few calls on it, worth a look.
