I have a $25 iTunes gift card that I received years ago, so it's time to put it to good use. I also own a guitar that I would love to play, if only I knew how...

I'm looking for an app that's helpful for beginners, regularly updated, and can hopefully create tabs from my existing library. I have zero rhythm, so any type of lesson plan or practice schedule would be most helpful.

Any suggestions? I found Capo, which looks promising, but I really have no idea what would work best for beginners.

Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated!

Isn't Garage Band for recording music?

Does it have built-in lessons? Can it grade a performance? Can it generate tabs from music files? I want to learn how to play, not hear how bad I am :D

One of it's features (and it's on the Garageband site) is "learn to play". Garageband includes some basic lessons and I believe you can purchase/download more advanced when needed.

I do believe it does have the ability to "grade" your performance.
