Subscribed to this thread because of this response. :)

I'm looking forward to hearing additional very good /useful apps :D

Find my iPhone - In case I loose it (hasnt happened yet thank God)

Remote - Control my mac that is connected to the speakers at night and change the songs I want. Also make my itouch compatible with my brother's comp so I can mess around with him :p hehehe

1Password - Password generator and PW keeper. Awesome encryption I heard

Scatter Brain - a better notes app.

Groupon - Pretty self explanatory

All other apps I use are pretty common throughout

My favorite non-jailbreak applications include Facebook, eBay, Kijiji, my banking app, Ms. Pacman, and the free Flashlight. :D

My favorite jailbreak apps are BiteSMS (I LOVE THIS), SBSettings, Activator, Lockinfo (though I don't use it anymore) and maybe some of the gaming emulators for the older consoles.

Whatsapp
Moxier Wallet - Keeps all my passwords/info/etc safe
Splashtop - really handy VNC app (obviously needs a computer)
Dropbox - great for storing stuff to access anywhere
ShopShop - Shopping lists suck, but i always have my phone with me at the shop :)
SoundHound/Shazaam - With both, it's hard to find a song that can't be identified

Productivity: 2Do: Tasks Done In Style

The best GTD, task manager app in the App Store. I tried practically all of them, from Things to OmniFocus to ToDo, etc.
It syncs with Toodledo and has MobileMe/iCloud calendar syncing, you can't go wrong.

Productivity: Wunderlist (Free)

Cloud Syncs with practically every popular platform. But very basic.

No particular order:
Handy Light ;)
Road Trip
Rush Limbaugh
Grocery iQ
iSSH
Fahrenheit (or Celsius)
Gas Buddy
Backdrops
Newegg

Vanilla

Opera Mini - Seriously, it's really, really good.

Instagram - I'm not a massive photo person, but I like the effects and sharing.

Dropbox - Use it all the time, excellent app.

Photobucket - Same, very easy way to get photos/pics to PC without going through iTunes. Super fast uploading.

Amazon (UK), eBay - Impressive apps, have used them whilst out to buy things (from my phone!).

Skype - Obviously. I need it in my line of work, works very well on i4.

Unofficial GameFAQs app - Seriously, with multitasking on i4 and THOSE PUZZLES in Chaos Rings, I have no fear.

Jailbreak

WinterBoard - See all those cool themes about? Impossible without this (unless you use the alternative, DreamBoard).

SBSettings - Task Manager and more for iOS. As useful as it sounds. Themeable.

biteSMS - YES. Worth the £5 I paid for it and more. Most used app on my i4.

BytaFont - For themers. Changes the stock font of the iPhone.

ColorKeyboard - For themers. Changes the stock keyboard.

FakeClockUp
- Speeds up the animation speed of the UI. Incredible, in a word.

MobileNotifier - Now baked into iOS 5.
LockInfo - great for Lockscreen interaction plus StatusBar Notifications
iOverclock - Winterboard Theme that removes underclocking script. Awesome for iPhone 3GS. Toggle-able
BiteSMS - Single best thing for your iPhone. QuickReply is easily the most used feature.
SBSettings - Already explained. Very very useful. Activate-able from LockScreen.

So would you say that that is better than the simple up-coming To Do list app by Apple in iOS 5? I am still exploring my "organization game" and was imagining I will be using that.

Does 2Do do something a basic to do app doesnt?

I ask because I used to rely on the idea that the notes app would be enough for my thoughts and to dos but it always gets unruly and uselessly out of control, trying to keep the habit of organizing them constantly after I imput something whilst I am busy.

I could see some to-do apps being too simple.

I would want something that categorizes between macro and micro goals. Or long term vs short term. i dont want "pick up milk at the store" to be grouped in with "start an online business." One would take me one or two days, the other, months to complete and check off the list.

It would be mandatory for it to sync via iCloud so I am surprised to discover other 3rd party apps can primary sync without having some other app to worry about synching with. I thought it was confusing to do so but...

So you think something like 2do is that much more useful? How so? Im curious since you have explored many of these apps...

2Do has a plethora of options and does everything you'd expect it to do. The only thing it doesn't have is location based reminders, which the iOS 5 reminders will have have.

I think 2Do would be good for you, based on what you say you want. You can have separate calendars for certain subjects in 2Do. So say I wanted a Work calendar and a calendar for my favorite sports team. They'd be completely separate from each other UNLESS you are viewing the "All" calendar which aggreegates all your calendars into one view.

I love posts like this one because it forces me to check out apps I may not have used or heard of. I have 180 apps on my iPhone but I am always looking for the best possible app to perform a specific function.

Apps I did not see mentioned (or missed):

-Scrabble - worlds ahead of words in my opinion.
-Today To-Do - I have tried a lot of todo apps but none are as simple or as useful as Today.
-Red Laser - awesome when you are shopping and wanna compare prices.
-Page Once - the best finance app for keeping up on and paying bills.
-Waze - my favorite GPS app
-Stumble Upon - insanely awesome for finding great stuff on the web.
