Is it wrong to salivate over an M4 iPad Pro when I haven’t picked up my 10th generation iPad since I got an Apple Vision Pro? There’s something about watching what you can do with handwriting on the latest models in terms of being able to write down your own math equations and have the iPad solve them plus writing hand written notes and having the iPad clean them up to keep them in your hand writing style (but cleaner and more readable) that appeals to me. I really wish Apple would work with Microsoft to find a way to let you markup Office documents with the Apple Pencil. If they did that I’d be all over one. Serious question. If you have an Apple Pencil is it pretty easy to mark up PDF files or do you need a paid 3rd party app to be able to do that?

Plus my Intel 27” iMac is getting very long in the tooth these days. I’ve had my eyes on a Mac Mini and either a Samsung or Apple 27” 5K monitor as a replacement for a while now. I figured when I heard they were releasing the M3 that we’d have new M3 Mac Mini’s by now but nope. Apple is making us wait for the M4 which I’m OK with but I feel like I’ve been waiting forever for the M2 Mac Mini’s to be upgraded at this point and I can’t bring myself to buy one knowing it’ll be a couple of processor generations behind in another couple of months.

The samsung monitor is annoying as F. I have one and a mac studio monitor, thousand times better and user friendly.

Though still perfectly capable, I gifted my v.9 iPad to a co-worker.

I also gifted a 2020 IPP to another co-worker (actually, her 10-yo Son).

Neither of whom could ever find space to allocate even USD200 of non-discretionary funds into their budget.

Oh, and two less devices occupying space in my Home ;)

Bose Back To School Sale (25% OFF)

Bose kicked off a back to school sale this week, offering up to 25% off select headphones, earbuds, speakers, and other audio devices. During this sale you can get the Bose QuietComfort Headphones for $249.00, down from $349.00.
Better deal from Newegg, but only in the White Smoke color though.

$249.00 + Newegg $60.00 Promotional Gift Card (Email Delivery) + 12% (or $29.88) off with coupon code ZIP2SCHOOL

Even if you have no use for the $60 Newegg Gift Card, it's still cheaper at $219.12 after coupon.

Curious about your reasoning or calculation. How is $219.12 cheaper than $199?!
Where are you getting $199 from?

Unless I'm not understanding things, the Bose QuietComfort are $249 during the Bose sale.

$219.12 is less than $249

And unless my math is wrong, the Bose QuietComfort at $249 is 28.6533% off the $349 price yet MR states Bose is "offering up to 25% off select" items. 25% off is $87.25.

Sennheiser Accentum Plus is much better than any Bose for sound. And costs less.

$199 is an incredible price. Either the iPads aren't moving or the big boys know that something big is in the works that is going to tank the value of 9th gen iPads. Or maybe it is just that no one wants to buy something that charges with Lightning anymore. $150 more gets you a 10th gen iPad (larger and significant improvements) with USB-C charging.

You know the answer already.

Yep. It’s don’t 😉. I’ve got an iPhone 15 Pro and I’m running the iOS 18.1 developer beta so I’m seeing what Apple Intelligence is all about right now and, so far anyway, and there’s nothing there yet that’s enough for me to tell somebody who wasn’t already going to upgrade to an iPhone 15 Pro or Max or an iPhone 16 for other reasons that they need to upgrade to have Apple Intelligence so I’m sure the same can be said for the iPad.

If I were to “upgrade” at this point I think I’d be getting a 2021 iPad Pro with an M1 or a 2022 iPad Pro with an M2 because, for me, I like Face ID enough that I’d rather go to a less expensive refurbished model that has that feature than a new one that doesn’t and I’m not dropping near $1,000 or more on the latest M4 iPad Pro that has it. Not with the M4 Mac Mini’s just around the corner knowing I to upgrade my old 27” iMac so I’ll not only be getting one of those but a 27” 5K monitor to replace the one on the iMac I’m replacing as well.

I’ll hold off another year, let the prices on the 2022 M2 iPad Pro’s come down more and think about it in a year after Apple Intelligence is hopefully improved over where it’s at right now.

Really? I’m a bit surprised. I’ve heard the Apple is better from others but the question for me with the various deals out there now is that is it really that much better to justify the price difference? It sounds like you’d be in the yes category on that one.

Can you elaborate a bit? What’s so annoying about it? I’m not somebody who’s hung up on colors to the extent that somebody who deals with images professionally or as an enthusiast might be so if it’s annoying because the colors are off when looking at photos you’ve taken or videos you’ve recorded someone like me wouldn’t notice unless it’s way, way off so I’m curious if you think a user like me would notice the difference or is it annoying for other reasons? Any infor you can give would be greatly appreciated because I’ll be in the market for a good 27” 5K monitor soon. Thanks!!!

Still nearer $300 here in Japan and that’s refurbished ones 😿 (42-46,000 yen)

Got the $1999 M3 MBP 16 deal. Definitely worth that price. To be honest that’s what it should be priced at to begin with. 512gb in 2024 is shameful. Even for 2k it should be 1tb. BB tried to give me a copy with greasy black finger prints and a crushed corner. No, no, no! Avoid the pick up option and buy in person to avoid this hassle.

I use a Samsung Viewfinity S9 5K at work, and being the sucker that I am bought a Viewfinity S9 4K at home. (Okay to my excuse the local hardware market here is tiny).

Janky controls. Terrible USB-C functionality. Sometimes it charges devices. Sometimes it doesn't. Never delivers anywhere near the advertised power.

If you're often docking a laptop to the monitor with USB-C, and the laptop often complains about the power, then its a hugely frustrating experience.

Sad. But honestly worth it. I've been buying iPads since Gen 1 and they last a long time and for me have a lot of uses.

Hmm. The 14" M3 Pro deal seems to have expired. Well. Hope it comes back. Or the M4 replacement is so astounding that it is actually worth the price they ask for it…
