Played with the M2 Macbook Air 15" config. $1700 for 16GB RAM, 512GB SSD.
Alternatively, you can get base 14" Macbook Pro with M2 Pro, XDR display, 16GB RAM, 512GB SSD for $2000.

Classic Apple. Either get the basic 8GB RAM 256GB storage Macbook/Mac Mini that even my 2010 Macbook Pro came up with (bbut Apple silicon!) and feel you made a good purchase, or spend more to make your Mac to last a little longer with finding out that, after all, you may want to spend even more than that.
With these discounts for MBP in the US I don’t know why would you even bother to think about upping your Air…

it’s priced fairly, and also priced to encourage an upgrade.

There was a time when it was easy to jump to a MacBook Pro after comparing the specs of other desktop/laptop configurations, and even come out ahead.

It’s the classic $6.99 medium/$7.49 large soda tactic, which are actual prices at AMC.
